Todd Case, CEO
Todd Case, CEO of NorthStar, is a University of Kentucky graduate with a Bachelor’s in Accounting. He owns and operates multiple companies in Kentucky, including Todd Case Trucking and NorthStar Operating. An active pilot and member of AOPA, Todd also supports children’s needs through the Masons and Shriners. He serves as Vice Chair of the University of Kentucky Board of Directors, Chairman of Finance Committee and serves on the Athletic Committee at UK.. Todd also serves on the Energy Planning and Inventory Commission for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Todd resides in Louisa, KY, with his wife, Pauletta, and has a daughter, Lindsey, who teaches aviation and finance.
Ryan Johns, President
Ryan Johns, President of NorthStar, brings over 25 years of mining experience and 19 years in finance to his role. As VP of RH Group, he oversaw the management of diverse assets, including coal, oil, gas, timber, solar, and real estate, while leading innovative projects that balanced tradition with sustainability. He pioneered the first solar array on a reclaimed mine, demonstrating a commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship. Ryan resides in Pikeville, KY, with his wife, Jennifer, and their four daughters, Taylor, Emma, Abby, and Elle.
Randall K. Taylor, COO
Randall K. Taylor, COO of NorthStar, holds dual degrees in Civil and Mining Engineering from the University of Kentucky and is a licensed Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor. With over 35 years in energy and industrial operations, he previously founded JLA Resources, providing consulting services for energy clients and projects. Randall also held senior leadership roles, including President and COO, at James River Coal affiliates, where he gained extensive experience in managing operations. Randall presently serves on the Pike County Board of Health. He resides in Pikeville, KY, with his wife, Kimberly.
